A Recap of the 1st Annual Cardinal Country 5K and beyond...

Thanks to all of the Junior Class who volunteered to work,
supplied baked goods or got donations and/or runners. The event was a huge success and we could not have done it without you.

Under sunny skies with temperatures hovering around 40 ° there were 122 participants overall.

25- half marathon participants

55- 5k participants

42-1 mile/fun run-walk participants

The 5k participants began at 9:30 a.m. from the Johannesburg school and made their way through the Groen Nature preserve. The first place male finisher was Andrew Morehouse with Haley McVannel finishing first in the female division, both students at Johannesburg-Lewiston schools.

The half-marathon began at 10:00 a.m. from the Lewiston school and they crossed the finish line back at the Johannesburg school. The first place male finisher was Andrew Sullivan from Gaylord and the female first place finisher was Alyse Tarbutton. Also completing the half marathon was Chloe Johnston, Katie Kierczynski, Mr. DeHoog and Mr. Holt.

The one mile fun run/walkers began at 10:30 and the course was laid out on the Johannesburg school property. It included an optional costume contest and we saw everything from adorable little farm animal costumes to giant yellow bananas. The first place male finisher was Coalton Huff and first place female finisher was Maddy Showerman. Joel Kussrow took 3 rd place in the Costume Contest dressed as a giant Banana!

If you were unable to participate this year we will be hosting the 2 nd Annual Cardinal Country Run next fall and we look forward to your support! So start your training!
