JLHS Writers’ Club Author Event:
On Nov. 8, 2024, JLHS Writers’ Club members met local wordsmith, Kristy Burmeister. Ms. Burmeister shared her writing journey and experiences as a memoirist, poet, editor, and publisher. By reading her poetry and offering writing prompts, students were inspired to compose their own artistic pieces. Thank you, Ms. Burmeister for supporting our teenage writing community! Thank you to Emma & Kallie for sharing your mom! Also, thank you to Sue Burk and the Johannesburg Branch Library for hosting this unique event! #JLHSWritersClub #Inspiration #WritingJourney

Lego Grammar
Who knew that studying sentences could be SO fun? Mrs. Goddard’s English 10 students created sentences using LEGOS to reinforce recent grammar lessons. You’re NEVER too old to play!

Lewiston 4th Graders enjoyed this hands-on experiment to learn about energy. This carnival ride is called the Twist-o-matic. We ❤️ Mystery Science!

Lewiston kindergarten had a rockin' time celebrating the 50th day of school today!
Students wrote their names 50 times, wrote about what they would buy with $50, did a hunt around the classroom for 50 words, and worked in small groups to see what they could build with 50 blocks! They ended their day with root beer floats and a sock hop! 🎶🥤

It was a BUSY day in Mrs. G's kindergarten class. Students attended their first election!
In the morning, kindergarteners had to create their own voter registration cards. Students took time to learn about each candidate (Oreos or Chocolate Chip Cookies) so they could make an informed vote. Each kindergartener also had to time to talk to the class about what they liked and didn't like about each candidate.
Before they voted, they listened to a story to help them better understand the voting process.
Finally, they got to cast their votes and chart the results! It was a TIGHT race!
We ended our day enjoying some cookies! 🍪
